Jonathan Chance ran down the walkway as fast as he could go. His red jacket and brown leather bookbag weighed him down, but he didn't stop. He had just gotten out of his last class on a Friday -- his teacher had held them until she caught the culprit who glued her lunch to the desk -- and he would be late to the Rendezvous if he didn't run fast. The Rendezvous was Jonathan's favorite place to go after school. He liked to sit and eat, and watch the other kids from different areas of Chicago chat, eat and mingle.
